Not just the beach in Goa

Did I visit Goa last weekend or did I visit Portugal… its about a week since my trip and I am still trying to answer that question..

Zelia and Carlos are wonderful people from this town called Aveiro in Portugal. I met Zelia through couchsurfing about a year ago… full circle in couchsurfing completed… they had stayed with us in Mumbai and we had visited them in Portugal… and it was time for us to meet again… Goa, being the old Portugese colony in India seemed like an ideal cultural crossroad to meet…

The trip was a trip of many ‘first times’.
This was the first time I stayed in Panjim….

The first time I was not within the vicinity of a beach in Goa
The first time I took a Bike taxi from the station
The first time I walked through the lanes in Old Goa

The first time I noticed that streets were called Rua this and Rua that..

The first time I visited an old Portugese mansion

The first time I moved around in state buses in Goa and not expensive white taxis

The first time I ate Fish curry for Rs 37
The first time I took a ferry across River Mandovi…

There is so much more to say… This may have been the first time but definitely not the last time… Obgrigada Zelia, Carlos !!!
